Ravat & Ray Dental Care was formed in June 2007 by Irfan Ravat and Mark Ray. While working together for 3 years previously at Highfield Dental Practice, they had often discussed their shared vision for the future of dentistry in their home town, Bolton, and so took the opportunity to tender for a new practice which the NHS wanted to open locally. Their shared vision of high quality dental care for all patients won them the tender, and they opened their first dental practice together in January 2008 in Deane, Bolton.
On graduating both Mark and Irfan declined offers to practice in other parts of the country deciding instead to return to their home town of Bolton. They established their business and by doing so set about giving back to the local community that they were from.
The recipe of dedication to the highest standards of dental care provision meant that in just 8 short years the company has grown to several practices covering Lancashire, Greater Manchester, West Yorkshire, and the Isle of Man, which employs over 100 people. Most practices have been the result of successful tendering for new NHS practices, as the Ravat & Ray brand became synonymous with high quality dental care provision, with the NHS commissioners.
Said Irfan Ravat; “From the onset, our intention has always been to do what is best for our patients and to integrate fully in the local community in which our practices are based. We aspire to be part of the fabric of the local area and this has been the key to our success. We have invested heavily in all of our practices and the premises are all modern, fully equipped to an extremely high standard with all the latest modern technology. More importantly though, we have invested in our recruitment process and
our staff to ensure that patients visiting any of our practices are treated by highly skilled professionals who are all at the cutting edge of developments in dentistry”
The greatest strength of Ravat & Ray Dental Care is their professional and highly motivated dental teams. They operate from state-of-the-art premises and their passion is to ensure that every single patient gets the individualised care they deserve.
Ravat & Ray Dental Care have striven to be at the cutting edge of new ways of working, and were the first practice in Bolton to provide patients with ‘Direct Access’; a service which allows patients the opportunity to book an appointment with a Dental Hygienist or Therapist for hygiene treatments without the need for an appointment with the dentist first.
Said Mark Ray; “It is essential that our service evolves continuously to keep abreast of current opportunities to improve our offer to patients”.
Keen to be embedded in the local communities, each of the 10 practices undertakes outreach work projects in local schools designed to improve oral health. In addition much charity work is undertaken by the organisation, raising in excess of £30,000 to date. Mark, as a keen cyclist undertakes an annual fundraising challenge, which in 2014 was three loops of the Bolton Ironman cycle route in just over 9 hours, a massive 150 miles. In 2013 he completed the coast to coast cycle ride in a day!
“It is fantastic to be able to combine keeping fit with raising money for others. The rides are designed to be challenging and ensure that there is a very real sense of dedication to the cause. During those times of training or during the challenge is when things get tough, the drive to succeed outweighs the aches and pains, especially when the recipients of the money are at the forefront of your mind.” Said Mark.
The challenge for 2014 was in aid of As Suffa, a local Homeless Outreach project that every Sunday come rain or shine provide up to 100 meals, plus a drink and a light snack to every person they visit. The team visit four temporary hostels in Bolton before driving their mobile soup kitchen to other known locations to hand out food to those living on the streets.
Other charity work includes the support of the British Red Cross, Macmillan Cancer Care, the British Heart Foundation, and Bridge2Aid, as well as many other local charities. In November 2013 Ravat & Ray Dental Care were a principal sponsor of the British Red Cross Ball, and again in September 2014 were the principal sponsors of the Heart of Bolton Ball in support of the Bolton ICD Group.
