In September 2013 Zoe Trayford of Ravat & Ray Burnley, became the first Smile4Life Champion in a dental setting in the UK. To support her role, Zoe works alongside the East Lancashire Oral Health Improvement Team promoting the Smile4Life program in early year’s settings such as Nurseries and Primary Schools. The scheme helps staff within these settings to be become a Smile4Life champion, so they can promote as well as encourage children to eat/drink healthy foods, ensure they regularly brush their teeth, enjoy a healthy lifestyle and visit the dentist on a regular basis.

As part of the Four Teeth Award, which is the four standards to be met for the Smile4Life programme, Zoe has been attending the early year’s settings on a regular basis helping the staff to gather evidence and meet the awards, as well as providing the children with oral health advice.

Also as a result of her ever growing knowledge and for her to be able to have the ability to help these settings further, Zoe has enrolled onto a Nutrition & Health Course. This will also allow Zoe to use her new skills to advice patients that attend her regular oral health clinics in practice.
