The University of Bolton wins approval for University Technical College

It was announced on Friday 23rd January 2014 that the University of Bolton has been successful in winning government approval for a £10 million University Technical College, which will be built within the grounds of the main campus. With a new concept to education the UTC will provide academic and vocational studies for 14-19 year olds alongside the core subjects.

The UTC is due to open in September 2015 and will be designed to educate 600 young people in Bolton. This exciting new college will give students a real understanding of future decisions and will raise aspirations for young people alike.

Entrepreneurship will play a key facet within the new UTC and this will also allow local employers to assist with student placements, industry internships and opportunities for all.

Partner Mark Ray said; “As a leading employer, the UTC fits very well with our strategy of helping young people to prepare for careers in dental care.”

“We have already pledged several work experience and internship places for Bolton UTC students.”
